#EmeraldCubeCares – Holiday Giving

With the holidays behind us, it’s a great time to reflect on 2015 and to set goals for 2016. At EmeraldCube, we continue to aim to create an atmosphere that contributes to the economic development of our employees and their families, as well as the community and society at large. In 2015, our team participated in a number of community service projects with the United Way of Great Atlanta and continued to grow the Vine City Code Crew and relationships with STEM careers in Atlanta. A special shout out to our EmeraldCube team members who volunteered their time during the holiday season:

Sarah Mills, Senior Applications Manager
Sarah worked several shifts in her church’s Harvester-affiliated food pantry, distributing food and supplies to community clients. She served a weekly free community meal at Johnson County Food Ministries, “adopted” Kansas City-area foster kids for Christmas by purchasing gifts for them, and rang bells for the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle.

In addition, Sarah served as host week co-coordinator for Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN), assisting homeless families in a return to independent living. Host congregations provide overnight accommodations and meals for homeless families (up to 14 people in 4 or 5 families) for one week at a time every three or four months.  Host congregations utilize volunteers to set up the hosting area, prepare meals for guests, provide supplies for the host week, plan activities for the guests, and serve as hosts during mealtimes, evening activities and overnight shifts. http://www.jocoihn.org

Craig Kelly, Partner and Jeremy Harms, Director of Business Intelligence
Craig and Jeremy volunteered side by side at the annual Lazarus Project Christmas Dinner. Since 2001, this dinner has been a celebration of the Advent season and the culmination of another year spent sharing life together with the homeless men and women of Atlanta. Craig and Jeremy celebrated Christmas with those friends living on the street and staying in nearby shelters, by serving a feast in the Urban Garden at Atlanta Mission. http://www.wearelazarus.org

A special thank you to Sarah, Craig and Jeremy for making a difference in their local communities this holiday season. The entire EmeraldCube team will kick off 2016 in late January by helping to build homes with the United Way of Greater Atlanta for Habitat for Humanity.
