#EmeraldCubeCares: Literacy Kits & Snack Packs for Atlanta Youth
As part of our ongoing #EmeraldCubeCares initiative, we gathered in late January to give back to our local community in Atlanta, GA. During our fourth year of service with the United Way of Greater Atlanta, the EmeraldCube team donated materials and spent the morning building literacy kits and snack packs for Atlanta youth.
The 100 literacy kits were packed with composition books, folders, novels, pens, jump drives, and various other school related materials. In addition, handmade bookmarks were designed by the EmeraldCube team. The kits were delivered to East Atlanta Kids Club, a nonprofit, out-of-school-time tutoring, mentoring and enrichment program for under-resourced girls and boys ages 7 to 17. http://www.eastatlantakids.org
In addition, the team built 500 snack packs filled with healthy non-perishable food items. The snack packs were delivered to Easter Seals of Warsaw and Mansell. Easter Seals North Georgia provides high-quality services to ensure that all children with disabilities or other special needs and their families have equal opportunities to live, learn, work and play in their communities. http://www.easterseals.com/northgeorgia/
It was a very fulfilling morning for the team, as we put our own personal touch on making a difference in the lives of Atlanta youth. A special thank you to United Way of Greater Atlanta for making the event possible.

Team Member Spotlight: James Owens
James Owens, Principal Technology Consultant at EmeraldCube Solutions, has been working with computers since the 90’s. While in college earning his degree as an Electrical Engineer, James worked extensively with hardware and networking, setting up windows and Linux networks along with web and domain servers. Due to his strong technical background and fluency in Portuguese, in 2001 James was hired by Oracle in Denver, CO, to support JD Edwards EnterpriseOne users from Brazil. In this role, James began to expand his knowledge of JD Edwards.
Over twelve years later and with a wealth of JDE E1 experience, EmeraldCube was fortunate to have James join the team. As Principal Technology Consultant, he works as the technical lead supporting all concerns surrounding JD Edwards technologies. Dedicated to his craft, James works countless hours to ensure EmeraldCube customers have the best JDE user experience. His dedication to teaching and supporting the JDE community is evident through his work. James enjoys working at EmeraldCube because he shares in the company values and appreciates the investments which are made in building the best team in the industry. By aggregating the best professionals, he works alongside others who share his passion for JD Edwards.
Although James is usually hard at work supporting EmeraldCube customers and his staff, he can also be found in the Colorado sunshine gardening in his backyard. Fun fact? James is in the process of learning the Guarani language.
