FraudPatrol: Proactive JD Edwards Fraud Monitoring

Maybe it’s happened to you personally. Maybe it’s happened to someone you know. Maybe you’re of the opinion that it can’t happen to you because you’re “aware”. Are you wondering what “it” is? It is Fraud. A big ugly word that encompasses any wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain. It also defines a person or thing intended to deceive others, typically by unjustifiably claiming or being credited with accomplishments or qualities. Many of us understand the personal impact of fraud, but how does this apply to the companies we work for and own?

Fraud in America is a major concern with over $3.7 trillion dollars lost annually by businesses around the world. And unfortunately, this number is growing. Many companies have invested in fraud prevention tools, but few companies have proper fraud detection mechanisms. Research has shown that proactive data monitoring and analysis is the most effective fraud detection solution, reducing loss by up to 60% (www.acfe.com).

EmeraldCube has developed FraudPatrol for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. FraudPatrol is an innovative solution that proactively detects and alerts suspicious transaction activity by closely monitoring JDE production data. The solution focuses on securely detecting issues and notifying designated personnel within the organization when breaches occur, proactively stopping fraudulent activity before it’s too late.

FraudPatrol utilizes transaction monitoring and sophisticated pattern analysis techniques along with log mining, to proactively detect, flag and notify auditors and controllers of any suspicious business activity. The solution performs real-time analysis of payroll and financial transactions most likely to result in asset misappropriation, which makes up an estimated 85% of corporate fraud activity. In addition to financial transactions, FraudPatrol also monitors closely the activity of JD Edwards and System Administrators (CNC), who typically have unrestricted access to JDE.

FraudPatrol can effectively detect potential fraud within your JD Edwards EnterpriseOne environment. To learn more, visit emeraldcube.wpengine.com/fraudpatrol/.

Feature Authorizations Part 2 – The Saga Continues

Back in August, the last time someone let me write the EmeraldCube blog, it was a long one. In fact, that’s a bit of a joke almost everywhere I go: if assigned to write, present, document, etc., I will most assuredly far exceed the designated time allotment or word count. It’s a blessing and a curse; I’m rarely at a loss for words. (But I’m working on it. Really. Pinky promise.) Anyway, back then, I started a series on Feature Authorizations, and I kicked it off by talking about Auto Suggest, the feature introduced in 9.1 to allow for a “Google-like” search capability that can be enabled on almost any field. And, at the end, I promised more; in fact, I threw out a promise to cover Change Confirmation next.

I know you all have been waiting, and now that day has arrived! In an effort to curb my wordy-ness, I won’t go into the background on Feature Authorizations; go read the August post for that. I’ll hold your spot. Okay, good, you’re back; let’s proceed with Change Confirmation. By the time you finish this blog post, you will be itching to go CHANGE some data within JDE, just so you can see the wonders wrought by this feature. Well, maybe I’m getting ahead of myself… read on and see: http://emeraldcube.wpengine.com/2015/11/feature-authorizations-2-the-saga-continues/.

Team Member Spotlight: Sarah Mills

This quarter, the team member spotlight focuses on Sarah Mills, a Senior Application Consultant at EmeraldCube Solutions who has over 10 years of JD Edwards experience. An English major, Sarah fell into an accounting role immediately after graduating from college. Exposed to JDE while working as a Sales Accounting Manager, she eventually moved into the IT support and analysis side of JDE, becoming a Business Systems Analyst supporting multiple modules for over 8 years.

Now thriving at EmeraldCube Solutions, Sarah works in the JDE Applications practice, providing both project and managed services for customers. Assisting with R&D from the applications and data side, she also makes time to present during educational sessions and contributes to sales and marketing activities.

Sarah has a true passion for JD Edwards as witnessed by all within the community. She excels at solving business problems for customers, enabling them to continue running smoothly. A key focus for Sarah is obtaining and keeping the trust of the customers she works with, serving as an extension of the customer team. As an EmeraldCube team member, Sarah loves being entrusted with a wide variety of responsibilities and having the opportunity to contribute within every level of the organization.

Although Sarah seems to eat, breathe and sleep all things JDE, she does save some time to read and hang out with friends and family. Fun fact… Sarah has worked as a librarian, as this was at one point her career goal. Those of us who know her are scratching our heads. How could she ever keep her voice down to be a librarian?
