A Look Ahead: JD Edwards in 2019
With the end of the year quickly approaching, it’s time to take a look ahead at where JD Edwards is headed in 2019 and outline how your organization can proactively prepare for success.
Oracle previously announced the Continuous Innovation delivery model for JD Edwards EnterpriseOne. With this model, new functionality to JD Edwards products are delivered as updates to the existing release. So, if you’re running JD E1 9.2, you can rest assured, as your Premier Support date has been extended until December 2030. All fixes and updates are cumulative and available to all customers in the most current release.
If your organization is running JD E1 9.0 Update 2, then your Extended Support ended in November 2018. This means Oracle will not develop any changes or fixes for your 9.0 release, so any newly discovered bugs or enhancements that do not already have an ESU available would not be addressed in 9.0, which greatly increases your risk of downtime or need for customizations.
One of the key technology updates released in Tools Release 9.2.3 is JD Edwards enabling 64-bit processing for the Enterprise Server and development clients. This empowers you to move completely from 32-bit to 64-bit processing. The minimum Applications Release required for this upgrade is 9.2. Moving to 64-bit enables you to adopt future technology and future-proof your environments. It also enable JD Edwards to deliver future product innovation and support newer versions of the required technology stack. Learn More in our JDE 64-bit Enablement Document.
JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Orchestrator is a framework that enables Digital Transformation. There has been an added focus on Orchestrator and the released orchestrations out of the box to help customers adopt them. JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Orchestrator continues to provide significant functionality for automating EnterpriseOne transactions and interfacing with external systems. Check out our tutorial video, “Calling an Orchestration from an Orchestration”.

#EmeraldCube Cares: Beyond “The Cube”
With the holidays around the corner and the office filled with hustle and bustle, many Cubers set aside time to give back to their local communities. Jeremy Harms, our Director of Business Intelligence, and Jared Harms, ETL Consultant, have been dedicated for many years volunteering for various charities in Atlanta. Together, Jeremy and Jared make it a family affair during the holidays volunteering side by side at the annual Lazarus Project Christmas Dinner.
Since 2001, this dinner has been a celebration of the Advent season and the culmination of another year spent sharing life together with the homeless men and women of Atlanta. Jeremy and his family celebrate Christmas with those friends living on the street and staying in nearby shelters, by serving a feast in the Urban Garden at Atlanta Mission. All are welcomed at a candlelit feast complete with real plates, tablecloths, caroling, and loads of Christmas cheer. To find out more and to get involved, visit http://www.wearelazarus.org
Thank you Jeremy and Jared for all you do beyond The Cube!
